Browning can indicate disease, water stress, dog urine or might even be simply cool season grasses going dormant in hot summer weather. It's difficult to diagnose because you haven't provided any information on the type of grass you're growing and what kind of maintenence it's getting (watering, fertilizing, mowing). If you don't think the grass is diseased you may just want to rake the debris out of the browned areas and reseed. Be sure to water regularly, feed in April, June, September and early December, and mow regularly. These tactics will result in a healthy turf that is thick and green.

Best wishes with your lawn!
