Columbine or Aquilegia is often affected by leaf miner insects. The damage is evident just as you have described, light brown to grayish wiggly lines. Although unattractive, it will not kill the plant. The recommended treatment is to trim the plant down short and remove the affected foliage (Dispose of it in the trash.) This will encourage regrowth with clean foliage. At the end of the season, after frost has killed the foliage, again trim it off short and dispose of it in the trash. This helps reduce the leafminers from year to year.
