I have a sweet gum tree that drops spikey balls in the fall. I have heard of a tree injection that will prevent their growth. Can you help?

I am not aware of anything you can inject into a tree to stop fruit and nut production, but commercial growers sometimes use carbaryl or Sevin when the trees are in bloom. You might try this, but if the tree is large, you may not be able to sufficiently coat the flowers to stop the seed production. I think I'd opt for raking the seed pods up along with the leaves in the fall.
