I have asiatic lillies turning brown and loosing blooms before they even open. The leaves are falling off as well as the blooms, open and closed. What is the matter with them. They were purchased in late June and planted in direct sunlight .Should I take them back to Home Depot? Or what else can I do?

High temperatures and high humidity can cause the symptoms you describe. I think I would plant them in containers to facilitate good drainage (you can sink the containers into the ground) and mulch over the soil to slow water evaporation and reduce humidity in their general vicinity. See if their behavior changes over the next few weeks. If not, you may want to put them elsewhere in the garden where air circulation keeps humidity down.

Best wishes with your lilies.
