Aside from fencing your yard to provide a dog run, there's not much else you can do to prevent the burned spots in your lawn. Diluting the urine with water does help, but that means you have to follow your dog around with a hose and dilute the urine before it soaks into the soil. Wish I had more suggestions! To repair the burned spots, you'll want to rake out the dead grass and roots, then reseed the spots. Grass seeds usually germinate in 7-10 days.
