|I live in VA and have rose bushes that are only 1 year old. Should I trim them if so when ? Thanks for your help.
|Roses are generally pruned in the spring. How best and exactly when to prune depends on what kind of rose you have. For example, if you have landscape shrub roses, trim them off by about half to two thirds in early spring. If you have hybrid tea roses, trim them back quite hard in early spring to remove any winter damage and thin the plant to open it to light and air. If you have miniatures, shear them lightly in the spring. If you have old fashioned shrub roses that bloom only once a year, wait and trim them after they bloom to thin lightly and remove any overly long canes.|
