Germinating Geraniums - Knowledgebase Question

I get good germination, then before the true leaves come the initial "leaves" fall off and that's the end. Why? They're under light, in potting soil over heat cables.

Sounds like they're very unhappy! The problem could be that their little roots are being scorched. Seeds germinate best under warm conditions, which is what you've supplied with your heat cables. However, once the seeds have sprouted, they don't need the bottom heat and will be quite happy in average room temperatures. Turn the heat off and see if your seedlings will recuperate. If not, you may have to start all over with fresh seeds and fresh potting soil.
