Why is the skin on my tomatoes tough? Thank you! B.B. Smith

Tough tomato skins have more to do with variety than with cultural practices or environmental conditions. The newer varieties have tougher skins; the heirloom varieties have thinner skins. If you crave a tomato with a thin skin, try growing Mortgage Lifter (an heirloom variety) or Sungold (a newer hybrid).

Hope you have a grate harvest!
