We have three different types of fig trees in our garden. For the first time this year they have fruits. However, the fruits are very small, not all ripened and the leaves are turning brown and falling off. Is there anything special we can do to prevent this problem?
Thank you in advanvce for your help.
Sincerely, Teresa Babino

Your tree may be suffering from dry soil conditions or nematodes on the root (especially if the soil is sandy). I suggest you contact your County Extension Office about how they may be able to help you determine whether or not your have nematodes. There is not a good remedy for these pests of the roots. In the meantime try to keep the soil evenly moist.
