When grasses turn brown this time of year even though you have not changed your watering practices, it is generally because your lawn contains some cool season grasses. Cool season grasses grow well when temperatures are below 80F but go dormant (turn brown) when temperatures rise. In the fall, as temperatures cool down again, the cool season grasses will green up. You can rake these grasses out and reseed with warm season grasses, but these will go dormant when temperatures cool down so you'll be faced with a similar problem during the fall and spring months. Now that you know the reason behind the browning, you can take some action - or not, depending upon your tolerance for some brown grass during certain months of the year.
