| My Shasta Daisies have bloomed but now they have turned a blackish color. Should I 'dead head' them to get them to bloom again? If not, what should I do with the plant at this time of year? Thanks |
| Yes, cut the flowering stems down to below foliage level. If you deadhead continually over the summer months your Shasta daisies will continue to produce new flowers. All new growth is at the perimeter of the plant and after a few years the center of the plant will become bare. When this happens you can dig and divide your Shasta daisy clump, remove the old, dead center part, and replant the healthy growth. This will give you several new plants which will grow and flower for several years before requiring digging and dividing. Best wishes with your garden! |
