Mature woody plants usually do not need much, if any, fertilizer, especially if they are planted adjacent to a lawn that is being fertilized regularly. In general, you could use a top dressing of good quality compost and an organic mulch year round to help feed the soil slowly on an ongoing basis. You could also add a complete fertilizer with an analysis of 10-10-10 in the spring, either general purpose granular or slow release granular. Read and follow the label directions for how much to use.
