I have a lot of crab grass on my lawn which I would like to dig out now. If I do, can I seed now or do I have to wait until spring? If I have to wait, should I remove the crab grass now or wait until Spring? Thank you. |
Crab grass is an annual weed and it will die out over the winter. It reseeds itself and begins germinating very early in the spring. You could rake it out now or kill it with an herbicide containing glyphosate, then prepare the soil and reseed the bare patches in September. (The best time of year to plant grass seed is actually in the early fall.) Here is more information you may find helpful. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly. http://www.gardening.cornell.e... Good luck with your lawn! |
