Pruning depends upon the trees and shrubs. If they flower, prune them immediately after they have finished flowering. Some spring flowering trees and shrubs spend the summertime developing flower buds for the following spring's floral display. If you prune too late in the summer, you may prune off the flower buds. Other trees and shrubs flower on new growth so pruning is best done in early spring to promote lots of new growth. If the plants do not flower, early spring is the best time to prune.

You can remove a plant at any time of the year. If you want to move it to another location, the cooler months of spring or fall are best.

Best wishes with your garden.
