|The tag that came with the tuberose I purchased from Home Depot says it's hardy 10-0 degrees but my Western Garden book says to lift the plant in winter as it is more a hot climate plant. My book is old. Have the plants been made more hardy so that lifting will not be necessary?|
|Your Pearl tuberose should be hardy in your Sacramento garden and you should not need to lift it. My resources indicate that the lowest temperature in your area over the past ten years was 26F. I'd plant it in a permanent place. If a cold snap threatens (anything below 20F), mulch over the soil with pine boughs, straw, or even just a pile of compost to help protect the roots.
Best wishes with your tuberose!
