should i cut branches of my apple and pear tree in order to get a better growth and more fruit?

For a backyard tree, you would not need to practive aggressive pruning as the commercial orchards sometimes do. However you would need to remove broken, diseased or damaged branches regularly. Young trees may also need some pruning to encourage a healthy branch structure. Older neglected trees may benefit from pruning to stimulate fruiting. You may find the following information helpful.
