What is the best product to eliminate Spurge and Clover in an established Fescue lawn with a tree in the middle? Our local nursery's are located in a Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Lowe's. |
Clover and other weeds tends to appear in lawns that have inappropriate nutrient levels and in areas where grass is having trouble thriving. I would suggest you start out by running some basic soil tests to check the fertility and soil pH. Next, consider topdressing with good quality compost and doing some core aeration this summer. Core aeration pulls up plugs, it does not just spike the soil. This will help add organic matter and allow air and water to enter the soil better. The better your soil conditions, the better the lawn grass will grow and outcompete weeds. Your University of Arizona Mohave County Cooperative Extension can advise you on soil testing services and provide more details on chemical controls -- what to use, and when/how is best to apply it for maximum results. They have Master Gardeners in your area. Check this site for contact info: http://cals.arizona.edu/mohave.... Good luck! |
