There are a number of fast growing plants you can include in your garden. Start by staking out the garden area and amending the soil with some organic matter (compost, aged manure, etc.). Amending the soil will loosen it, and help it drain quickly yet retain just the right amount of moisture. Level the area and then plan your design. Some fast growing plants to include:
radishes
lettuces
marigolds
dwarf sunflowers
spinach
zinnias
peas
beans

Best wishes with your garden!
