|I have a large area of something growing on my lawn. I've been told it's moss and also carpet juniper. It's low to the ground and its got like a rusty brown color to it. What could this be?|Answer from NGA

|Moss is generally soft to the touch and usually very shallow rooted. You should be able to peel moss up in long sheets. Carpet juniper will have sturdy stems, and it will be rigid, not soft. It will have an extensive root system.|
