|My house is built into the side of a mountain. We have a lake at the bottom and the side is at least 100 feet long and is at about a 70 degree angle. If we plant Junipers, do we need to do anything special to prepare that area? Such as put down landscape weedblock? If we did this, I know that any pine straw we put down would probably just slide down the hill. What do the experts do? Thank you. Becky|
That is quite a slope you have! You may need to put and tiers or stairsteps in order to control erosion on that slope. I would use landscape fabric. There are earth anchors that can be pushed into the soil to hold it down. Whatever you do make sure and get the fabric and plants installed promptly so the soil is not left bare and therefore susceptible to erosion should a rainstorm come suddenly.
