I planted sod about 4 months ago. It was looking great until about a month ago when I noticed a patch of brown grass. It has now proceded to get bigger along the bottom part of the lawn and now creeping up the sides of the lawn. I put fertilizer on it a few weeks ago. What are my options?

Your lawn could be suffering from drought damage, chinch bugs, or a fungal disease. I suggest you contact your County extension office and see about bringing in a sample for a free diagnosis. Take a 4x4 inch sample of grass and put it into a Ziploc Make sure and take the sample from the area between dead and healthy grass. That way your sample will show either the sick grass from the fungal problem or the insects that are causing it.

With a sample in hand they should be able to determine what is causing the problem and prescribe a good remedy for you.
