|For many years these plants bloomed freely in my garden in sunny locations. This year I had no greenery or blooms at all. Have they outlived their natural life. Because they did so well for many years and the soil is naturally rich, I have not fertilized.|
|Perennials do eventually grow old and unproductive, so this may be what has happened to your rudbeckia. Or, extreme winter temperatures may have done them in. In either case, pull the old plants out, roots and all and replant next spring. I'm sure you'll have many years of pleasure from your new plants.
