|Could you tell me what bulbs should I plant for spring bloom, summer bloom and fall bloom? I know that some flowers bloom only once and then they are gone. I need something for my garden that has blooms continuously throgh out the spring, summer and fall so the garden does not look dead after a short time!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate your help.
|Bulbs typically bloom for about 3 weeks so if you want color all season long, you'll want to plant a variety of bulbs. When one type has finished blooming, others will be in their prime. Here's a list of suggestions for colorful flowers from spring until autumn:
Chionodoxa luciliae (Glory-of-the-snow )
Colchicum autumnale (Autumn Crocus)
Endymion hispanicusa (Spanish Squill)
Endymion non-scriptusb (Bluebells)
Eranthis hyemalis (Winter Aconite)
Erythronium spp. (Dog-tooth Violet, Trout Lily)
Fritilaria imperialis (Crown Imperial)
Galanthus spp. (Snowdrop)
Lilium (Asiatic hybrids)
Lilium (Aurelian hybrids)
Lilium (Oriental hybrids)
Lycoris radiata (Short Tube Lycoris)
Lycoris squamigera (Lycoris)
Muscari armeniacum (Grape Hyacinth)
Puschkinia scilloides (Puschkinia)
Scilla siberica (Siberian Squill)
Tulip spp./hybrids (Tulip)
Best wishes with your colorful garden!
