Our neighborhood Jewel Store is offering hardy mums for Fall planting. Does this mean that they are perennials? Or should I just go to Home Depot and buy Mums for this season?

As long as they are hardy mums and not florist's mums (which are sometimes sold in supermarkets), they will be perennial in your garden. Be sure they are marked 'hardy'.
