|Is the first fruit on a red delicious apple tree red or green? Or does it turn red upon maturity?
My first fruit that fell of the tree was green, I also have a golden delicious that I bought at the same time I think someone might have changed the tags. Is there a way to tell the differance between the two tree's?
|Immature fruits of the red delicious are green but they color up as they grow and mature. They have rather straight sides, the common slim shoulders, and of course the ridges on the bottom of the fruit. Golden delicious apples start out green but lighten to a greenish yellow as they mature. They are more rounded in appearance from top to bottom. The only way to tell the difference between your trees is with mature fruit. Let's hope you get some from both next year so you can positively identify your trees.|
