|I have an established grapefruit tree that sustained severe bark damage from excessive pressure from a rope that was tied around it. The bark split in multiple places. What can I do to protect the exposed wood and repair the bark damage.|
|It's too bad your tree suffered damage from the rope, but it should be able to overcome the problem in time. The best thing to do is nothing at all; the bark will eventually grow to cover the exposed wood. There will be a scar, but aside from cosmetics, it should be okay. I know you are tempted to dress the wound, but anything you put there will hinder the natural callousing over of the wound so it's best to simply leave it alone.|
Best wishes with your landscape!
