Last year my mothers garden had a beutiful flower that came from what i originally thought was a marijuana plant. No kidding-this plant had the same leaf structure as the illegal plant. I think it was a dahlia, but to date i have not found out for sure. Mom planted from seed and in turn gave me some seeds once the flowers dried up. Well, i did and the plant has grown to over 5' and is starting to bloom. My problem is, these flowers look nothing like the flowers in my moms garden. You would never think i planted seeds from the same bush. What gives? |
Maggie, Very strange. Without seeing the blooms I can't know for sure what flower you have. I suggest you do a Google image search for Texas Star hibiscus (Hibiscus coccineus) and see if that is your mystery plant. If not try taking a photo or bloom and leaves to a local botanic garden or to your County Extension Office for identification. |
