A tomato plant needs lots of room to grow, so yours should be transplanted to a larger container, or set out in the in a sunny spot in the garden. Plan on applying at least one inch of water to the plant's root area every week. Most plants in pots should be watered when the top of the soil begins to dry out, but before the soil pulls away from the sides of the pot.
