Small flies breeding - Knowledgebase Question

How do I kill small flies that are breeding in my front flower garden. I put Coco Shells as a ground cover and it might be to moist.

You are probably dealing with fungus gnats. These tiny little insects feed and breed in decaying organic matter. If you can dry the mulch out, they will find another spot to live. Try raking the coco shell mulch to turn and dry them out. Keep turning on a daily basis until they are all dried. When you water, try to water just at the bases of the plants rather than watering the mulch along with the plants. This should deter the little pests.
