What is the best time to plant perennials? - Knowledgebase Question

I have already planted a few, and they seem to be doing fine. My assumption is, if they are already being sold in the Home Depot in my area, then I should be able to plant them, right?

The garden centers generally order plants to arrive at the perfect time for planting in their local areas. If you're finding annuals and perennials in garden centers near your home, it's a good time to plant. If a late frost threatens, you can temporarily cover your newly planted perennials to protect them from damage. If no frost is forecast, your plants should be just fine.
