|Last sunday i purchased 2 Swizzle (scarlet & yellow) plants, 2 Swizzle (cherry & ivory) plants, and 2 Alyssum (white) plants. I purchased gardening soil, top soil, and color burst to mix with the gardening soil. i planted the flowers in the sun and 12 inches apart as said on the tags & the holes are 10 inches wide. I covered the top soil with mulch and water 2ce a day. after the first day the pedals on the Swizzles started turning brown, and the Alyssums started wilting, but not browning. I'm not sure why this is happening. This is my actual first time gardening, and I'm not sure of a mistake I might have made. Can you help?|
I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
Either the roots are drowning from too much water, or the plants suffered some root damage in the planting process, such as the roots of drying out or being injured physically. Hopefully they have pulled out of the by now but if you end up having to replace some take care to firm the soil around the roots went planting and water than in well immediately. Then only water as needed to keep the soil moist.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
