|I just purchased the above tropical vine (shaped like a tree), but have not brought it outside yet because it has been pretty cold here in Acworth, Georgia. It had many flowers when I bought it, but they are dropping from the plant at an amazing rate. I think I may have over watered it when I brought it home. There doesn't seem to be any evidence of disease. Is it common for this plant to drop its flowers? If so, will more keep coming? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Sincerely, Diane Korf
|Bougainvilleas tend to flower on about a 6 week cycle so your plant will produce more flowering bracts in a few weeks. Of more concern is its reaction to being brought into your home. If it was growing outside at the nursery and you brought it indoors, it is going through a period of stress and will drop foliage and flowers; if it was growing indoors when you bought it and you took it directly indoors when you got it home, it may still be showing signs of stress because temperatures and lighting will be different than what it experienced in the past. Either way, it will adjust. Water thoroughly and then allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Best wishes with your new plant!|
