I have a rose of sharon bush from the fall that grew completely out of control, towering over onto my driveway. Spring is here and I was wondering when is a good time to prune it back a little without harming it? Should I do it now before it starts budding or wait for it to flower then clip?

You can prune it back now but you'll sacrifice some of the flowering. I'd wait until it has finished flowering and then prune it back. That way you'll be able to enjoy the floral display.

Best wishes with your rose of sharon.
