Can you tell me what kind of tomatoes, if any, would grow best in pots in my backyard? I don't have space for a permanent garden.

Tomato plants adapt very well to containers. Choose the 'determinate' type rather than 'indeterminate'. Determinate type tomato plants grow to their full size, put out blossoms all at once, and the fruit matures all about the same time. Indeterminate tomato plants continue to grow all summer and need to be staked or caged to keep them upright. Put your containers in a sunny spot and water as soon as the soil begins to dry out. Try these Burpee varieties: 'Heatwave II', 'Medina', 'Northern Exposure', 'Celebrity', or 'Sweet Tangerine'.
