|I live in Houston, TX. and I have Red Hardy Oleanders. I love them; but I received a complaint from my neighbor. Are they poisonous?|
What can I plant to replace them? I prefer evergreen, drought resistant and flowering shrubs.
Oleanders are poisonous but so are a number of other plants in our landscapes. If small children are around and are too young to understand not to put things in their mouth these plants may not be a good choice. Another option is the southern wax myrtle but it doesn't flower. Getting evergreen and flowering is difficult but perhaps a gardenia or Sasanqau Camellia would work for you.
