We live in Zone 4b. I would love to plant hyacinth bulbs. If it is still cool here, can I put them in in the spring, or do I have to plant them in the fall. Also, I want to get lavender plants. Do they spread? Do they like full sun? Thank you Kindly Nina B

Lavender plants thrive in full sun, in well draining soil. While the plants tend to bush out as they mature, they don't spread or colonize an area. Hyacinth bulbs are planted in the fall. That's when you'll see them available in garden centers and that's the best time to plant them in your region. If you have leftover bulbs, you can plant them in the garden now.

Best wishes with your garden!
