I'm getting married at my home and thought that a great way to have a beautiful yet affordable backyard wedding, it would be a good idea to just plant a garden. Seemed simple enough at the time. I was wrong. I don't know anything about measuring or measurements, I'm a chronic over-estimator, and there is the relic of a barbeque pit in the middle of the yard. All I can say is that it is a pretty nice sized yard and I want it to be like the Garden of Eden for me...uh, us. Have I started too late (I'm in the Mid-South), is it not time yet? The weather is crazy down here, should I take that into consideration? We're getting married next May. HELP!!!

Plants take a long time to grow so if you're getting married a year from now, you've got plenty of time to create your own garden of eden. If you're getting married next month, then I fear you've waited too long to get your garden in order. Professional landscaping can be expensive, but can bring you instant results. Landscaping yourself will be less expensive, but labor-intensive and time consuming. At this point, I think you have two options. 1) have your wedding at a private garden or in a park; 2) broadcast wildflower seeds everywhere and water like crazy so you'll have something green and some flowers, too.

Best wishes with your wedding!
