Peach trees require a certain number of chilling hours in order to produce fruit; Honey Babe needs 500 hours, which may be difficult to obtain in southern California. But even if it doesn't bear fruit every year, it is an attractive little tree and you can grow it in a container. It grows to about 5' and is a heavy bearing (when it gets its chilling requirement). It can produce sweet, yellow freestone fruits with a rich peach flavor. It grows well in central California and bears early to mid-July. Honey Babe is considered self-fruitful, which means you do not need a second peach tree for fruit to form. Either plant yours in a container or directly in the ground in a sunny spot. Water it deeply once each week and it should thrive.

Best wishes with your peach tree.
