Hi, I just bought a weeping cherry tree and I am wondering if I can plant it in a container rather than in the soil? I would love to plant it the container so if I have to move, I can take it with me. Let me know what is the best method for my plant/tree. Thanks much! Sonny |
If you have a dwarf weeping cherry, it can live indefinitely in a large container; if you have a standard weeping cherry, it will live for a few years in a container, but it should be planted in the ground as soon as possible after that. So the bottom line is, choose a container that's at least 24" and you can safely grow a full sized tree for 3-4 years, or a dwarf tree for many more years. Best wishes with your tree! |
