what is the proper procedure for sod? I need to replace some dry/dead st.agustine in my front yard. How do I prepare the ground and what is the best way to lay and maintain sod?

Rake the area to be sodded to remove any rocks, stick or dead grass, and to scratch the soil surface inch or two to loosen it. Then lay the sod pieces and walk on them to press the sod into contact with the soil. Water with a half inch of irrigation twice daily for the first few days and then once daily for the rest of the first week. The every other day for another week to give the sod a chance to root in well.
