|I recently bought a shrub rose and planted in my front yard. I have never planted anything before so I'm new to all this. It has sprouted a few green leaves but is pretty bare. It doesnt't seem to be growing. How long does it normally take for a rose bud to start to bloom after planting. Any other advice on rose maintance and care would also be greatly appreciate it. Thank you|
|If you planted bare root roses you can expect some growth in April and May (after the weather warms) and flowers should begin blooming in July. As your rose matures it will flower a little earlier in the season.
Roses need 6-8 hours of direct sunshine every day and they will benefit from frequent feeding. The easiest way to ensure they're getting all the nutrients they require is by applying a rose food in amounts and with the frequency as suggested on the plant food label. Water your roses deeply once or twice a week (if weather is hot) all through the growing season.
Best wishes with your roses!
