Unwanted Ivy in Maryland - Knowledgebase Question

I have ivy growing in my lawn in a shady area under a very big and old Atlas Cedar Tree. Is there a way to get rid of the Ivy without hurting the lawn or my tree? I have a shade flower bed under the tree that the ivy does not invade...just in the grass beyond it. In the past I have been pulling it out by hand and the area is growing larger each year. If there an easier way please let me know. Thank you.

I wish there were an easy solution to your ivy problem but anything that kills the ivy can affect the tree roots. Broadleaf weed killers can persist in the soil and can be transported through water into the roots of your tree. You may have to continue to pull the ivy out and dig out the roots until you've finally got it all out.

sorry I don't have better news!
