|I bought some product from a as seen on tv website called patch perfect which is supposed to grow your grass really fast. I also bought some garden soil and laid it and put these seeds on top of it.|
For once the birds didnt attack the seeds and it was starting to grow. My neighborhood is notorious for stray cats because my neighbors feed them. Unfortunately they seem to love my yard and my newly growing grass that hasnt really taken root yet is growing in patches due to the cats disposing themselves in my soil and digging to cover it up.
My neighbor a few doors down re did her grass and used seeds and put haysticks over it I assume to stop the birds from eating it up. Their grass is growing so nice.
I also own a little dog that loves to run around in the yard and play. My question is what can I do or use to stop the cats from wanting to dispose in my soil?
I am thinking to just give up on that idea and get grass seeds and try the haystick method (does that really stop the birds-- like covering it so they dont see the seeds) or just buying a strip of grass and hope it takes.
Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful.
|As you've discovered, cats love to dig in fresh soil. They will stop digging as soon as the grass is thick. The quickest and easiest way to keep cats from digging is to simply lay a piece of chicken wire over the reseeded area. The grass will grow through the holes and you can pick the wire up to mow the lawn, then replace it until the grass is nice and thick enough to keep the cats from digging. It won't blow away and it won't hurt if you or your dog walk on it.|
Best wishes with your lawn!
