|We had a lot of dead weeds from the drought last year, so we started to dig them by hand then we decided to till the whole mess up and reseed. We put down Pennington Ky 31 fescue, straw and watered. The grass is coming up, but so are the weeds and we still have some bare spots, that we just can't seem to get started. How do we stop the weed cycle?|
|It can sometimes be frustrating to get a new lawn up and growing, but once you do, you'll have fewer weed problems because a thick, healthy lawn will crowd out most weeds. You can kill the weeds once the lawn is up and growing - usually about 3 weeks after seeding. Use a weed and feed type product. Once you've eliminated the weeds you can rake and reseed any bare areas. Water and mow regularly, and feed 3-4 times a year to help your lawn grow lush and thick. By next spring you should have a healthy, weed free lawn.
Best wishes with your lawn!
