Last fall, our large lilac shrub was pruned back and now this spring it did not bloom. It has many leaves and looks healthy. What should I do to ensure that it blooms next spring?

I'm afraid that you pruned at the wrong time. Lilacs should be pruned immediately after flowering because they spend the summer months developing flower buds which will open the following spring. As long as you don't prune you lilac again this year, it should develop flower buds over the summer months, which will open next spring.

Best wishes with your lilac!
