I planted several evergreen trees in front of my house 3 years ago, they are around 6 feet tall (I htink they have the word emerald in them). They look fairly healthy on the outside, but the inside looks quite dead. Can they be salvaged?

Possibly Emerald Green Arborvitae. If so, it's natural for the inner foliage to brown and die off. There's not much you can do to stop this process, it's the growth habit for these plants.
