I am trying to border my house with a garden but I have a two big trees shading most of where I am wanting to start. What are good shade perennials or annuals that do well in shade? |
There are quite a few perennials that will thrive in shade in your growing region. Here are a few to consider: Aconitum (Monkshood), Actaea (Baneberry), Aegopodium (Bishop's Weed/Snow on the Mountain - can be invasive, though), Ajuga (Carpet Bugle, ground cover with flowers), Aruncus (Goatsbeard), Asarum (European Wild Ginger, ground cover), Bergenia (Saxifrage), Brunnera (Siberian Bugloss), Chelone (Turtlehead), Cimicfuga (Bugbane/Snakeroot - sounds bad, looks good!). Annuals for shade include impatiens, begonias, pansies, lobelia. Hope this information is helpful! |
