|what should I use to fill in empty spots on my lawn and control weeds. and why am i getting black spots on my roses.
|Weed control can be done with a weed and feed treatment or by hand pulling or digging the weeds. Once the weeds are gone, rake out the dead spots and reseed your lawn. New grass should sprout in 7-10 days after seeding and in about 4 weeks your lawn should be lush and thick.
The black spots are a sign of black spot disease, which is common in roses. My suggestion is to prune out the infected canes, stems and leaves and remove them from the garden. You can then spray the remaining canes and branches with a fungicide, to make sure all of the disease is stopped in its tracks. You'll be doing your plants a favor by pruning - you'll also open them up to better air circulation, which will make them less susceptible to fungal disease. There's a schedule of spray treatments listed on the fungicide label. If you treat your rose bush as often as recommended, you'll be able to rid your rose bush of black spot.
Best wishes with your landscape.
