|Is it better to use sod or seed to fill in a large bare spot in my lawn, in my zone?|
|Sod will give you instant results; seed will be less expensive. Or, you can take sod from a healthy area in your lawn and transplant it into the bare spots. I do this by using a shovel to remove a 2-3", 12" long strip of grass from the edge of the lawn or from in front of a flower bed where the lawn is encroaching then cut the strip into 3 four-inch long strips and set them in the bare spot. Space them a couple of inches apart. They will eventually grow together. Transplanting in this way keeps my lawn borders and edges clean and gives me a few patches of sod to fill in bare areas.|
Best wishes with your landscape!
