I'm looking for advice on good plants that are low maintenance, easy growing for a small bricked courtyard garden. I have two metal trellises and was thinking about some variety of climbing rose, but want to make sure they are not too hard to grow. I don't have the greenest thumb! Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Climbing roses are a good choice in terms of attractiveness, but they are sometimes disease-prone which means you'll have to do some regular spraying and pruning. Other choices might be Coral Vine (very vigorous), Trumpet Creeper (very vigorous), climbing Hydrangea, Gold Flame Honeysuckle, Passion Flower, Carolina Jessamine or Japanese Star Jasmine. I've listed these in order of height (30' for the most vigorous growers, 15' for the rest). All flower, all are fragrant and all grow best in full sunshine.

Best wishes with your new vines!
